Anonymous asked: please explain how big boss at the end of mgs4 when he wakes up after the patriots system is destroyed knows basically everything that was going on while he was in a comatose state. for example, in his convo with snake he knew everything about GW/JD, Solidus' body burning in the river and the SOP system. Like how much time passed between the FOXALIVE virus being uploaded/his awakening and his encounter with Solid Snake at the cementary?
I HAVE MY OWN THEORY ON THIS based on Big Boss’s statement “Naomi told me everything” — who was already dead when BB woke from his coma
It is unknown how much time had passed (maybe a few days), but he most likely learned all of this when he went searching for Zero after waking from his coma.
Headcanon: When Big Boss’s body got recovered after the fall of Zanzibar, he got hooked up to The System, and instead of being in a real coma, he was awake during all of that. He was in a glass cage for 15 years, like a conscious person in a disabled body, knowing what was going on at all times because he was connected to the world through The System, but unable to do anything. This is also how Naomi got to “talk” to him.
So he had 15 long years time to do nothing but reflect on his own actions, and watch how everyone, including Snake, suffered in the world he and Zero had created. That’s a long time. Enough time for someone to maybe, just maybe, realize that he’d gone wrong somewhere.
He was still absolutely batshit insane and full of himself in MG2. He just had a long time to think after that, being alone with his own thoughts while their sins were carried on to the next generation.
this is kinda the same thing the B&Bs went through, and BB himself says that they used similar technology for him. alternatively it’s possible that Naomi just left him a recorded message (like she did for Snake etc), but given just how much info BB had about stuff like he was all-knowing, and coupled with his personality (worn out, regretful, calm; like he really had a lot of time to think) I’m leaning more towards my first theory
That’s a damn good theory.
